PERMANENT PROJECT

Gandhidham is a port town between the biggest port of India, Kandla Port on one side and a rapidly growing Adani Port on the other. The city has witnessed a tremendous development, leading to increased population and a need to have proper infrastructure in place. Over last few years, the number of vehicles in Gandhidham has increased tremendously posing huge traffic problems, which has further resulted in increased air and noise pollution. Traffic leads to unnecessary honking and stress which is not in line with the peaceful image of the city. As a matter of concern, and to deal with this situation, Lions Club of Gandhidham came up with an idea of installing a Traffic signal light at Oslo Circle, which is the heart of the city. The signal was inaugurated on 9th January, 2012 at the hands of DG Lion Dhiren Badiani, Anjar MLA Dr. Nimaben Acharya, Municipal President Ms. Minal Bhanushali and SP (East Kutch) Chirag Karodia. This is the Lions way of promptly addressing the need of the society as and when arises. The total cost of this initiative has been borne by the Lions Club of Gandhidham, without any outside support. The Club’s Pro-active approach has earned accolades from the fraternity and the residents of Gandhidham, who are beneficiaries from this initiative. The club vows to continue addressing the social issues in the city of Gandhidham.

SAPLING DISTRIBUTION

TREE PLANTATION AND SAPLING DISTRUBUTION IS THE PERMANENT PROJECT OF OUR CLUB. THIS YEAR TOO WE HAVE DISTRIBUTED 7500 SPALING TO MAKE THE CITY GREEN. PDG LION SURESHBHAI SHUKLA AND RANGE FOREST OFFICER MR. D. K. PANDYA INUGRATED THE FUNCTION BY DISTRIBUTING THE SAPLING. PROJECT CHAIRMAN LN MOHAN SAINANI AND LNS RENU SAINANI WERE ON THEIR TOES FOR THE SUCESESS OF THIS EVENT. PRESIDENT LN AJIT GALSAR INFORMED THAT TREE PLANTATION OF 50 PLANTS WILL BE DONE AT LAW COLLEGE ADIPUR AND 250 PLANTS AT LIONS NAGAR. DIST GOVERNOR LN DHIREN BADIYANI MICRO TEAN HAS SEND THEIR BEST WISHES FOR THE SUCESESS OF THIS EVENT PAST PRESIDENT LN HEMANT BHATT, LN RAJESH GOMBER, LN S D DEVELKAR AND IPP LN S P SHETTY WITH LARGE NO OF LIONS LIONESS HAS OFFERED THEIR VOLUNTEER SERVICES. BLOOD DONATION CAMP

The success story of 2011-12 started on 2nd July 2011 Saturday, when Lions Club of Gandhidham has collected 108 units of Blood Donation from MSSL Ltd KSEZ Kandla. Mr Alok Kumar unit Head and Ms Dolly HR Head were kind enough to support for the project. The whole staff of MSSL has taken active part to achieve the magic figure of 108 units. Lion Ajit Galsar President, was supported by his Secretary Ln Sanjay Gandhi, Treasurer Ln S N Gupta Past President Ln Dhiren Metha, Ln Rajesh Gomber, Ln Hemant Bhatt, Ln Nand Keshkwani core committee member Ln Raju Chatlani, Ln Manoj Ajwani and Lion Vinod Meghnani for more than 8 hours. Lion Mit Sachdev and Lion Pritesh Aatha has also donated the Blood as a token of contribution from Lions Club of Gandhidham. IMA staff was on their toes from 10.00am to 5.30pm. And took rest only after the magic figure achieved. The second Blood Donation is schedule on 9th July 2011 Saturday at SeaBird CFS Mundra. Lion Sandeep Bhagia is the Project Chairman and has invited all the members to witness another milestone of this Project. Dist Governor Lion Dhiren Badiyani has conveyed his Best Wishes for the success of the First Blood Donation Camp of Dist 323J of Lionstic year 2011-12.
